How much time do you spend fundraising?
Two years ago, I took my youth group on a missions trip. If I am honest, I felt like a part time youth pastor and a part time fundraiser. It was brutal, and all consuming. I spend weeks planning, and days pulling the fundraisers off. We ran two fundraisers and thankfully a few key families in the church backed us. We got what we needed for the trip.
When I got back from the missions trip, I started to think there might be another way to do a youth ministry fundraiser better. I heard a long time ago about a fundraiser with envelopes. So, I explored what that was.
This fundraiser could be called project 144 or wall of money. We just called ours the youth missions fundraiser. We took 144 envelopes and attached them to a sweet banner we designed. We wrote on each envelope a number from 1 to 144. Whatever number is one the envelope is the amount that the person needs to bring back in cash. If all 144 envelopes came back in you would raise $10,800. Isn’t that amazing?
This youth ministry fundraiser is so simple, and so easy to pull off.
