What is your plan for new Christians?
In the past, I have used all kinds of resources for discipling new believers. Some resources like Denise VanEck’s Leadership 101: An Interactive Leadership Development Guide for Students have been amazing, and game changers for my youth ministry. Other books and resources have not connected with the students I work with. The students I work with love the journal style format, and I am always on the lookout for new resources on discipling new believers. Andy Blanks from youth ministry 360 sent me a copy of NEW: First Steps For New Christ-Followers to check out and review.
I had no idea what to expect of this book, and once I opened it up, I loved it what it set out to accomplish! The goal of the book is, “a resource for helping new believers and those young in their faith develop a strong foundation in their new journey with Christ.” The journal style layout makes this a great book for youth pastors looking to help any student go deeper in their faith. It is a four week study that guides the student from knowing God to understand this new life.
One thing I would love to see from youth ministry bible studies and journals is ditching the standard format and make the pages wider, and have lots of spaces for notes and ideas. Or what about a crazy idea and make a medium size moleskin looking book that they could rip the pages out to post on their wall, or to put in their Bible.
I plan on using this book in my student leadership training rotation. I can’t wait to use this book in the fall and see how my student leaders think of this new book.
Here are a few awesome things about this book:
This interactive journal packs a big punch. Here’s some of what’s inside:
- 4 weeks of biblically solid, interactive, and creative daily devotions
- Important articles dealing with key issues of students’ NEW faith
- A collection of charts, verses, lists, and graphics to help them understand the Bible
- Guides to help them go deeper in their faith when they’re ready
Make sure to use Youth Ministry 360’s new book, NEW: First Steps For New Christ-Followers. What do you use for developing new believers?
