Are you ready for a new year?

I hope you all get a bit of a break during the holiday season.

During some down time I like to refocus for the next year.  Here are a few ways I get ready for the new year, and I pray that it will be an awesome year for my family and my youth ministry.

1. Retool my life plan.  Last year I created a life plan and it was one of the best things I did last year.  It is easy to lose focus.  If you are not focused, and are all over the map I bet you are becoming less effective.  Make sure you check out my post on how to create a life plan.

2. Pick a Bible reading plan.  You Version has some awesome Bible reading plans.  Again, I like to create goals for this.  If you don’t like reading your Bible online like me, make sure to pick up a Journaling Bible and destroy the margins.  It is so encouraging to read through it at the end of the year and see all the notes you made.  You can pick up a journaling Bible on amazon here,  The Holy Bible: English Standard Version, Journaling Bible.

3. Form a Discipleship group.  One of the best books I read last year was called,Transforming Discipleship: Making Disciples a Few at a Time.  Ogden makes the case for discipleship groups in threes or what he calls triads.  I think we can easily become struck, and having a discipleship group helps push us along in the journey.  I don’t think this should be an online thing.  It needs to be face to face.

4. Putting up a Neu Year Calendar.  I love this calendar from Neu Year.  It looks great, and is so practical.  Go and pick one up here.

Those are 3 ways I am getting ready for 2012.  How are you getting ready?
