Here is this weeks infographic.  This week we are covering The Digital Family.  We live in a digital world, and the way we live in the family unit is changing.  The stats in this infographic are from Britain, but they are also relevant to North Americans.  The digital world is a small place.  The students in your youth ministry could be best friends with anyone from around the world.  The culture has changed, and we have to learn how to adapt to it, and help parents in this new reality.

Here are a few things that stand out:

1. The average family watches 5.2 hours of T.V a day.  This is shocking!  I guess this is quality time?  This is one reason that I decided to ditch my cable last year.  The new problem is that we moved and our landlords threw in cable T.V for free.  One thing that surprises me about this is that it doesn’t include the computer.  That is crazy.  We need to help families turn off the T.V and get to know their kids!

2. The average family owns 3 laptops, computers or tablets, and 3 mobile phones.  This shows how we have moved to a digital culture.  I hear a lot of times that parents will text their kids to get an answer about something.  Really we need more face to face contact.  I personally think we need less screen time!

Those are the two things that stand out to me!  What stands out to you?  (leave a comment below! )
