Developing a Social Media Strategy
Do you have a plan for how you use social media?
In the past in posts like, goals, goals and more goals from september, and developing a facebook strategy for your youth ministry, questions would come in asking about my social media strategy.
Initially, I felt hesitant to show how I have received success in some areas (always tons of room to grow). But, I have been thinking a lot lately that if I believe that we need some new voices in Youth Ministry I needed to show how other Youth Pastors can get their voice and expertise out there.
So, for the next few weeks we are going to launch a weekly series called: Developing a Social Media Strategy.
The posts are:
1. Foundation – What to build your site on?
2. Content – Why should people care?
3. Twitter – Building a twitter list from scratch.
4. Feedburner – Rss done the right way.
6. Comments – Setting up a system to get comments.
7. To facebook or not to facebook that is the question.
For me I needed a plan. I had this site online for almost a year, and no one was coming to Youth Ministry Media. Why is that? I think because I wasn’t clear about what the goal was of the site, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to get the resources for Youth Pastors to Youth pastors. It was either develop a plan or let the site go and scrap it. I gave it 6 months to get a working plan together, and in two months I started to notice growth. What is your goal for your site, or your youth ministry’s site? A great starting point before you join us for the next 6 weeks is the free ebook that I am giving away titled: 5 Ways to Communicate Effectively in a Digital World. You can get it here.
I think it will be a great series and I look forward to hearing your comments. Is there anything else that should be on that list?
