What songs do you play before your youth ministry starts?

One app that is worth the download is called: djay 2.

This is my go to app in my youth ministry.  You can set up a playlist and auto play it.  This is the best app for creating a awesome atmosphere in youth youth ministry.

Here are a few cool features:

1. All in One DJ System.  Download the app and get a leader or student to mix the playlist.  We have tons of student who always want to dj the youth nights.  It’s just another way to get students involved.

2. Music library.  This allows you to build playlists on the spot.  I know a ton of other apps do this, but when you build a playlist and put it into auto mix, you can walk away and the song will slowly fade to the next one.

We love this app.  We will release our youth ministry playlist.  What songs do you play before youth?

App of the month: iTunes U

This is my new favorite app, and I am excited to share it with you!

I just purchased an iPhone 5 and when I updated the phone I realized a few new apps.  One of those new apps was iTunes U.  I have been using the iTunes U in iTunes for the past few years, and I am constantly devouring content.

Once you download the app here are a few courses you need to download and listen to.  I usually try to set a goal like, listen and take notes each day, or twice a week like a Bible College course.

1. Preaching Christ in a Postmodern World by Dr. Edmund P. Clowney and Dr. Timothy J. Keller.

– I love this series.  Everything you speak on needs to point to Christ and the Cross!  This is one course I wish I listened to in Seminary.

2. History and Theology of the Puritans by Dr. J.I. Packer

What else should be on this list?  I tried to find a great youth ministry course, but to my surprise I couldn’t find a thing.  Just podcasts, and not courses.  We need a Seminary, or Bible College to post a whole couse online!

App of the month: January 2012

Do you submit your mileage monthly?

I am always looking for apps to help out my ministry.  I hate doing expense reports and mileage reports.  So, I stumbled across milebug.  Milebug is an awesome app!  The features that this app has will make you tell your youth pastor friends about it.

Here are some of the features:

MileBug is a beautiful app that makes it easy to track your tax-deductible mileage on your iPhone or iPod Touch! A great mileage tracker!

***Data Backup now available!****
Now you can back up your data in case it gets lost! You can also restore it on a new device.

***Report backup also available***
When a report is emailed, a local copy is saved as a backup and available through iTunes File Sharing

****Includes GPS Tracking!****
See your path on the Map View with a pin dropped approximately every 1/10 mile. Edit the trip by dragging pins.

This is my favourtie app right now.  I was skeptical about the cost, but every month I forget about tracking certain trips.  This way it is all tracked.  The best feature is that it will give you a detailed mileage report at the end of the month.  You treasurer will love you!

App of the month: December 2011

I did this post awhile ago called, 5 iphone apps you need for youth ministry,  and it still gets a lot of hits.

I will review one app a month that I love.  I am really picky when it comes to app.  I don’t want a lot of clutter on my iphone.  So, here is the first app.  Enjoy!

Evernote Hello (cost: free, itunes link)

This is a really cool app that syncs to your evernote account.  All you do is click on the app and pass it over to your friend.  They take a picture with the app and put in their information.  I can see this app being so handy for youth ministry.  How many times do I meet new people at church on sunday mornings or at my weekly meeting who I would love to have their info with picture.  If only we could turn this into a database then this would be the complete tool for youth ministries/church.

Here is a video of it in action:
