What Video Games and Porn are Doing to a Generation of Guys

Is this the end of a generation of guys? 

The CNN article states, “Young men — who play video games and use porn the most — are being digitally rewired in a totally new way that demands constant stimulation. And those delicate, developing brains are being catered to by video games and porn-on-demand, with a click of the mouse, in endless variety.”  The young men that you and I work with are rewiring their brains to need constant stimulation.  This will effect every aspect of their lives.

I stumbled across this article at CNN this past week on twitter called, The Demise of Guys: How video games and porn are ruining a generation.  It is definitely a must read for anyone who works with teenagers.  The report is taking from a Ted Book titled, The Demise of Guys: Why Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It.

So here is the question?  How are these guys brains being transformed by video games and porn?  How have you noticed the rewiring?

Philip Zimbardo and Nikita Duncan authors of The Demise of Guys: Why Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It, state the reason why this generation is being ruined by video games and porn.  The reason they state is parenting.  And more than parenting it is absentee Fathers.  Fathers are completely checked out mentally and physically at an alarming rate.

What does this mean for your Youth Ministry?  How can you help Fathers step up and parent/disciple there children.
